Optimizing field operations in energy

Catapult used Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI to create two applications for a manufacturer of energy extraction equipment. One allows workers to report quality and safety issues on implementation of their products in the field. The app supports Root Cause analysis and the implementation of a corrective action and preventative processes. The second app helps employees request, manage and track the training and certifications necessary for their job. The app interfaces with other training systems and provides a flexible and low-cost option to training and certification of the field workforce.

Leveraging the Power Platform, the apps were developed quickly and at a lower cost than before. It also allowed IT to move the data collection process out to field workers without the acquisition of costly infrastructure.

Mobile tracking of home builder activities

Catapult used Power Apps and Power Automate to build a canvas application for a custom home builder. The application stores all of paperwork and inspection activities associated with the pre-construction and construction process. The app also manages and tracks activities including surveys, inspections, and permits. Ultimately, the app allows field workers to get more done on the go with their phone or tablet. A mobile culture has developed and has now been adopted across the enterprise.

The use of the Power Platform allowed field workers to be more efficient and reduced the incidents of delays associated with missing paperwork or missing inspections. IT was able to retire two legacy applications and consolidate their information onto O365.

Anticipating problems in manufacturing

Catapult worked with a large technology manufacturer and used the Power Platform as an integral development platform within their large data systems. Catapult built systems using Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI to help the manufacturer discover and react to service issues. The system also allows this manufacturer anticipate and plan for the impact of worldwide natural and man-made disasters on their customer data centers, as well as their supply chain. The use of the Power Platform increased the speed of application creation, deployment and improvement of these applications.
