Today’s Digital Marketers are delivering experiences across multiple channels and touchpoints, and in an ever-changing technical landscape it’s important that your digital tools keep up with the expectations that are placed on marketing departments.

Thankfully Sitecore released version 9 at Sitecore Symposium in October. Since then a minor release has been issued making this a stable and powerful version worth considering. With benefits for both the Marketing and IT departments this release offers advantages for the entire team.

Let’s take a look at some of the key benefits to upgrading to Sitecore 9.

xConnect can collect and share data from not only website interactions, but also from 3rd party systems, CRM, IoT devices and any other emerging technologies that your customers interact with. The data collected will be processed to provide insights, creating a 360-degree view of the customer in real time.

Sitecore Forms

This module has been re-written to replace Web Form for Marketers (WFFM) from all previous versions. This drag and drop form builder gives marketers flexibility and power to collect information.

Marketing Automation

This provides tools to create automated campaigns in a new, easy-to-use drag-and-drop interface. It also includes a tool that integrates with xConnect to trigger activities based on the goal triggers and several other conditional rules. The tools allow you to build tailored campaigns that drive contextual, personalized content to your customers, creating automated nurture or follow-up emails at scale.

SQL Server Support

With Sitecore 9, you are no longer limited to MongoDB to power your xDB database. This flexibility allows you to deploy to your choices of MongoDB, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft SQL Azure, so that you can pick platforms that are right for your organization.

Sitecore Headless

Sitecore now provides content access to external applications that can be built with minimal Sitecore experience, allowing you to leverage your content in multiple locations outside of a traditional web experience.

Azure PaaS

Sitecore is now optimized for deployment in Microsoft Azure PaaS. This seamless integration allows Sitecore infrastructure to be deployed in as little as 30 minutes through Azure Resource Manager templates.

Is it time to upgrade?

The decision to upgrade from a current version isn’t a small one, thankfully with all the options available in Sitecore 9 this is a great opportunity to evaluate your current content and marketing strategy and develop plans to leverage Sitecore as a core marketing platform.
